Dr. Daniel A. Schaffer has been named Chairman of the Department of Pathology at Fatima Hospital. A member of University Pathologists, he joins Fatima from Rose Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Schaffer, who received his medical degree from Medical College of Virginia/VCU, completed his Hematopathology Fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. He completed his AP/CP Pathology Residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
“Our job is to support the clinicians and make their lives easier as they care for patients,” said Dr. Schaffer. “We can best do that by ensuring a high level of accuracy in testing and communicating clearly with clinical staff.”
Dr. Schaffer is board certified in Hematopathology and Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology. He belongs to a number of professional organizations including the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Schaffer retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps after 28 years of service. Prior to retiring from active duty military, he served as Chief of Anatomic Pathology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
