Fatima Hospital Opens Newly-Renovated Surgical Nursing Unit
1/7/2011
(North Providence, RI) -- Fatima Hospital has opened a newly-renovated nursing unit, designed to provide more privacy and personalized care for surgical patients, while giving families more input into the care of their loved ones.
The dedication of the new unit -- known as Care One -- was held on January 17. Care One includes 15 larger private rooms where the Fatima team provides care for patients following orthopedic and other types of surgery. The larger rooms provide increased comfort for patients and visitors, while allowing doctors, nurses, and support services like rehabilitation, better access to people following surgery.
Additionally, the staff on Care One has been specially trained to provide individualized care focused on the preferences and needs of patients and their loved ones. Care One will also offer alternative therapies like massage therapy and music to enhance care and the overall post-surgical experience.
"Care One is built on a foundation of quality, communication, respect, and patient choice," said Kenneth H. Belcher, President and CEO. "All of these changes will help us meet our goal of delivering great patient-centered care to the community."
"The personalized care you receive following surgery can significantly improve your recovery time, outcomes, and outlook," said Patricia A. Nadle, RN, M.Ed, Vice President of Patient Services/Chief Nursing Officer. "The team on Care One is committed to meeting the individual needs of each patient, while encouraging the valuable partnership that exists between the care team, the patient, and their family."
