The St. Joseph Health Services organization conveys its sympathies to the Garrahy family on the recent passing of former Governor J. Joseph Garrahy, who died Wednesday at the age of 81. The governor was a member of the St. Joseph board of trustees for 16 years, serving from 1988 to 2004. He was made an honorary trustees in 2005.
During that time, Joe brought the same spirit of leadership and principles of hard work, collaboration and respect to board governance and operations that distinguished his legacy as governor. He served on several committees and was instrumental to the hospital’s strategic and financial planning efforts. He also actively supported hospital philanthropy initiatives, including chairing capital campaigns and annual appeals.
As a young man, the governor also worked in the cafeteria of Roger Williams Medical Center, now an affiliate of Fatima Hospital under CharterCARE Health Partners.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.
