In December 2011, Our Lady of Fatima Hospital and St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island were accredited for another three years by The Joint Commission, which evaluates and accredits more than 18,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Accreditation is granted to health care providers who demonstrate compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals and other health environments.
“Our caregivers, clinicians, and support staff are committed to the delivery of quality health care and that was reflected in this survey,” said Kenneth H. Belcher, President and CEO of Fatima Hospital. “Achieving Joint Commission accreditation is a major step toward maintaining excellence and continually improving the care we provide.”
An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
"In achieving Joint Commission accreditation, Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, St. Joseph Health Services, and its affiliates have demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients," says Mark Pelletier, R.N., M.S., executive director, Hospital Programs, Accreditation and Certification Services, The Joint Commission. “Accreditation is a voluntary process and I commend Fatima Hospital and St. Joseph Health Services for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”
