Fatima’s Michael Garrity named President-Elect of Rhode Island State Nurses Association
Fatima Hospital’s Michael Garrity DNP, MSN, RN, CPHQ, has been named President-Elect of the Rhode Island State Nurses Association (RISNA). Michael, who serves in Fatima’s Nursing Education Department as an Evidence-Based Clinical Coordinator, is a long-time member of RISNA and was elected at the June 26 meeting. Michael is the membership assembly voting delegate for Rhode Island and participated in the American Nurses Association membership assembly in Washington, D.C. earlier this month. He has been at Fatima since 2017, initially as a nursing supervisor and now as an educator.
"I am privileged and honored to have the opportunity to represent the needs of Rhode Island nurses on the state and national level," said Garrity. "I have witnessed RI nurses provide safe and compassionate care since I entered into the profession in 2002, while also advocating tirelessly for their patients. I encourage all nurses to seek membership in the American Nurses Association, and participate at the national and local level of government. Membership dues are used to advocate for the benefit and support of nurses through lobbying for the passage of legislation aimed at improving quality and safety for patients and nurses."
