Fresh produce program celebrates 1st anniversary
On April 23, St. Joseph Health Center celebrated the one year anniversary of a fresh food distribution program with a health fair and free produce market attended by hundreds of community members and a number of organizations focused on healthy living. Since launching the fresh food program with the Federal Hill House and the Rhode Island Food Bank, more than 36,000 lbs. of fresh produce has been distributed to lower-income Rhode Islanders.
The event also featured a number of free screenings and booths focused on health and wellness. Among those in attendance (pictured here) were Rep. Grace Diaz, CharterCARE CEO Lester Schindel, Nina Pande, executive director of the Federal Hill House, and Tom Hughes, president of Fatima Hospital.
