St. Joseph Health Center gets helping hand from Blue Cross volunteers
On October 2, the St. Joseph Health Center and Federal Hill House Association received a helping hand from dozens of volunteers from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) during its annual “Blue Across Rhode Island” event. Volunteers groomed the Center’s grounds, painted walls and murals, built shelves, created a reading and play area for children, and tiled the floor of the food pantry.
As part of the volunteer day, BCBSRI provided grant funding and hundreds of volunteers to support critical community service organizations at locations around the state. “Blue Across Rhode Island” is BCBSRI’s largest annual volunteer event, with 75 percent of BCBSRI associates participating each year.
BCBSRI President and CEO Peter Andruszkiewicz visited the St. Joseph Health Center site where he was greeted and thanked by staff members along with Thomas Reardon, interim CEO of CharterCARE Health Partners, Thomas Hughes, President of Fatima Hospital, and Matthew A. Roy, Vice President, Physician Integration.
“Thank you to the volunteers from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island for working to improve these facilities utilized by so many in our community,” said Thomas Reardon. “The impact of their volunteerism is significant as the services delivered here in partnership with Federal Hill House directly impact the lives of so many children and families in our neighborhood.”
