Fatima Hospital and American Cancer
Society to host first monthly cancer support group meeting
on June 8
(June 1, 2011 - North Providence, RI) - Our Lady of
Fatima Hospital and the Alice Viola Breast Care Center,
in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, will
hold their first joint support group for men and women
affected by cancer on Wednesday, June 8 from 2:00 p.m.
to 3:00 p.m. in the meeting room off the hospital's
cafeteria, 200 High Service Avenue, North Providence.
The support group is a forum for newly-diagnosed patients,
survivors, and caregivers to learn about treatment options
as well as coping with everyday life. All meetings will
be held on the second Wednesday of every month.
This support group, facilitated by an Oncology Social
Worker, provides a comfortable setting among peers for
discussion, education, and support through the treatment
and recovery process. This group is free of charge,
providing clinical, social, and non-denominational spiritual
support. Attendees need not be a patient at Fatima Hospital.
