FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE
YEAR, A PHARMACIST FROM FATIMA HOSPITAL IS RHODE
ISLAND "HEALTH SYSTEM PHARMACIST OF THE YEAR" |
(North Providence, RI) Michele A. Danish PharmD.,
Clinical Pharmacy Manager at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital,
has been named Pharmacist of the Year by the Rhode Island
Society of Health-System Pharmacists (RISHP).
This is the second consecutive year a Fatima pharmacist
has received this recognition. Michael Sipala, Director
of Pharmacy at Fatima Hospital, was last year's award
recipient.
Dr. Danish, a resident of Barrington, has been employed
at Fatima since 1992. This year, Danish was also named
a Fellow by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists,
one of only 20 pharmacists in the nation to be so recognized.
Fellowship recognition is based on rigorous criteria
including contributions to scientific literature, research,
education and leadership in professional activities.
Over the past 30 years, Dr. Danish has made extensive
contributions to the training of practicing pharmacists
and students in applied pharmacokinetics. She has authored
numerous professional articles and, while at Fatima
Hospital, established a pharmacokinetic dosing service
and a consult service for pain management and anticoagulation.
She lectures at the University of Rhode Island College
of Pharmacy and holds an adjunct faculty appointment
at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.
"We are extremely proud of Dr. Danish's well-deserved
recognition" stated John M. Fogarty, President
of St. Joseph Health Services, the corporate parent
of Fatima Hospital. " In combination with Michael
Sipala's recognition last year, Fatima Hospital can
lay claim to one of the best pharmacy services of any
hospital in our area", he continued.
Dr. Danish is a graduate of Albany College of Pharmacy
and received her doctorate from the State University
of New York (SUNY), Buffalo.
