Dr. Roberto Ortiz elected Medical
Staff President of
St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island

(June 8, 2011 - North Providence, RI) - Roberto
Ortiz, MD, a board certified endocrinologist,
has been elected President of the Medical Staff
of St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island.
Dr. Ortiz, who will serve a two year term, joined
the medical staff of St. Joseph Health Services
in 1998.
"I am excited to have this opportunity to
build on the hard work of my physician colleagues
at St. Joseph Health Services," said Dr.
Ortiz. "My goal is to continue

our focus on quality improvements that will benefit patients
in out care."
Dr. Ortiz completed his fellowship in Diabetes and
Endocrinology at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University
and his residency at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital/Temple
University. He graduated medical school from the Universidad
Autonoma De Baja California.
"We are looking forward to Dr. Ortiz' leadership
during this challenging time in health care," said
Kenneth H. Belcher, President and CEO. "He and
the other physician leaders who were elected will be
critically important to our mission of delivering high
quality care in the community."
Other officers elected were: Steven Colagiovanni, MD
(President-Elect); Albert Marano, MD (Secretary); Ildiko
Medve, MD (Treasurer); Diane Reali-Marini, MD (Member-at-Large);
and Paul Roderick, MD (Member-at-Large). Dr. Peter DeBlasio
remains an officer as Immediate Past President of the
Medical Staff.

Health Services of Rhode Island is the parent of Our
Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence and the
St. Joseph Center for Health and Human Services in Providence.
