HOSPITAL LIFTS H1N1 RESTRICTION
Fatima Hospital has lifted the visitor restriction
for any person under the age of 18, effective immediately.
This previous restriction was put in place in November
in response to the H1N1 flu outbreak.
Based on the Department of Healths very successful
first round school-based H1N1 flu vaccination program,
the hospitals Infection Control and Infectious
Disease Departments, in collaboration with its Emergency
Preparedness Team, made the recent recommendation. Hospital
staff continue to monitor the situation carefully.
To date, more than 113,000 children have been vaccinated
statewide and efforts will continue for children and
young adults through age 24, as well as with adults
with chronic illness.
The hospital is still encouraging people with flu-like
symptoms not to visit patients in the hospital. Flu-like
symptoms include any combination of a fever and one
or more of the following: headache, sore throat, dry
cough, muscle ache, runny or stuffy nose, extreme tiredness.
The hospital appreciates families and visitors who have
observed these restrictions to ensure the health and
safety of our patients.
