STATEMENT REGARDING NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN
UNAP LOCAL 5110 AND FATIMA HOSPITAL

Fatima Hospital and the union representing its 380 nurses have agreed to extend the current contract for 30 days. This means that the union has not issued a strike notice and that nurses will continue to work under the existing collective bargaining agreement through August 30. The contract was scheduled to expire July 31.

The Hospital hopes the extension will create a climate that supports achievement of a fair settlement. At least two more bargaining sessions have been scheduled for next week and a Federal mediator will continue to be involved in the process.

The Hospital continues to provide its full range of emergency, outpatient, medical and surgical services.
