Daren Girard, MD, is Chief of Emergency Medicine at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He has served as an attending physician at The Miriam Hospital and Landmark Medical Center. At Landmark, he was the assistant director of Emergency Medicine for eight years and the director for the last four years.
He is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, having served as President of the Rhode Island Chapter.
Dr. Girard is a cum laude graduate of Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the Brown University Program in Emergency Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital, where he served as chief resident, and received a Diploma in Tropical Medicine (DTM) from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ireland.
While at Landmark, Dr. Girard served on a number of hospital committees including the Medical Executive Committee, Peer Review Committee, Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics, and Stroke Steering Committee, which he co-chaired.
Dr. Girard has held numerous other appointments including Fenway Park Emergency Medical Staff (through Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center), Allopathic Physician Representative to the Rhode Island Board of Physician Assistants, and as a physician on disaster relief efforts coordinated through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He has held various academic appointments as a preceptor and clinical instructor.
