The first step in treating a mental health issue is admitting you need help. The next is finding a place where you and your loved ones are comfortable that you will receive compassionate comprehensive care so you can feel like yourself again.

At Fatima Hospital, we offer a series of programs for varying levels of needs, all overseen by experienced psychiatrists and staffed by a team of caring providers. Our caregivers are specially trained to alleviate the stress and anxiety that can accompany behavioral health needs.

Our dedication to mental health care starts in our emergency department. Fatima is home to a designated six-bed behavioral health emergency department in our larger emergency department. This area is separate from the rest of the emergency department and is staffed by licensed clinicians and medical staff. Here, seven days a week, 24 hours a day, staff can diagnoses patients and determine the appropriate level of care.

Throughout our programs, our staff is invested in making the patient the center of their own care so they can gain the tools necessary to successfully cope on their own. Our goal is to restore you to your best self -- in coordination with your family and other providers -- so you are successful in long-term recovery.

Psychiatric/Medical Unit
Sometimes, you or a loved one needs immediate assistance for a crisis like an acute psychiatric condition, panic attack, or severe depression. Our highly trained staff is available around-the-clock to prevent serious psychiatric disorders from escalating through early identification of -- and intervention for -- potentially hazardous emotional crisis.

Oftentimes, behavioral health issues are accompanied by other medical co-morbidities. Our psychiatric/medical unit is located within Fatima Hospital, which means medical care is available as needed.

The psychiatric/medical unit consists of 30 beds and around-the-clock care for individuals in need. Our goal is to help people through any immediate issues and get them back on the road to recovery.

Intensive Treatment Unit
An extreme psychiatric episode can be unnerving for both the person undergoing the behavior and for those witnessing it. The Intensive Treatment Unit at Fatima Hospital provides care for adults with severe and persistent psychiatric issues who may be exhibiting psychosis or erratic behavior.

Ours is a specially-designed 20-bed unit to treat patients with chronic mentally illness who may be psychotic or especially aggressive. We safely treat patients on every range of the autism spectrum and those with developmental delays and issues.

Thanks to the smaller size of the Intensive Treatment Unit, our caregivers develop relationships with patients, which can help improve care and outcomes.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Many individuals benefit from intensive psychiatric treatment, but don’t require constant, 24-hour inpatient monitoring. At Fatima Hospital, we’ve created a program that helps people get the care they need and still return to their own homes at night. Our program offers quick and easy access, with prompt intake appointments.

Our Partial Hospital program draws on the support and expertize of one of the region’s leading psychiatric programs -- St. Joseph Health Services -- and it follows our long-standing tradition of close, personal care. Ours is the only program in the state that offers a step-down from Partial Hospitalization to an Intensive Outpatient Program where participants can choose five half days or three full days per week. We also offer a free lunch voucher to the Fatima cafeteria to participants who come daily.

Many patients face social, interpersonal and emotional challenges daily. Our program is designed to be a place where you can deal with these issues and find the support, care and professional advice or assistance you need.

A Timeless Setting
Participants in the Partial Hospital program can enjoy our spacious, newly renovated facilities. Our group room, library, staff offices and medical treatment suites are located in Marian Hall on the Fatima Hospital campus. Our group size is typically 15 people or less, which allows for active group participation and individualized attention to patient’s needs.

A Staff That Cares
Our staff is an essential part of our strong tradition of community involvement and personal care. Working as a team, our multi-disciplinary experts will design an individualized program around your needs.

These professionals include a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed social workers, occupational and recreational therapists, clinical interns and community professionals who share their expertise in meditative practice, yoga, NA, AA, coping skills, etc. in an effort to most fully serve our patients.
